The Bachelor of Arts in Leadership Communication is an applied program that prepares students to become strategic thinkers, effective communicators and global leaders across various organizational settings. Students gain core knowledge and practical skills to address and solve communication challenges within and beyond the workplace. With this degree, students are well-prepared for leadership roles in business, nonprofit, government, and public sector organizations. Graduates leave equipped with the applied communication and leadership skills needed to manage teams, network, improve workplace culture, support change initiatives, and guide ethical and strategic decision making from within. The program focuses on how organizations align members, processes, structures, and purposes through effective leadership and communication strategies. It also emphasizes key organizational functions, including team building, decision making, problem solving, conflict resolution, and structured communication practices, which facilitate the exchange of information across all levels of an organization. Students will also learn how to assess communication contexts including interpersonal conflict, organizational culture, and multisystem goals; analyze, establish, and navigate organizational networks; and lead communication initiatives rooted in theory and practice.
Drawing from multiple areas of the communication field—including interpersonal, organizational, health, group, instructional, and research analytics—this major empowers students to develop and implement long-range communication and leadership strategies that support organizational missions and goals.
