Certificate in Disability Studies
The Certificate in Disability Studies provides an introduction to the fast-growing field of Disability Studies, an interdisciplinary field that centers the knowledge, contributions, experiences, histories, and cultures of people with disabilities. The certificate can prepare students for careers in medicine, social work, public service, and teaching, in which they may serve people with disabilities, but more importantly, it encourages all students to celebrate disabled joy, creation, and community while promoting social justice for people with disabilities.

| This program encourages outreach and community activism. Because issues around disability identity, rights, and access reach across many disciplines, you can apply the concepts from the disability studies certificate to a practicum or internship experience in many fields. To apply these courses toward the certificate, the topic is restricted to those related to disability studies. Talk to an advisor in the chosen field to find out more.
