President's Welcome

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to California State University, San Bernardino, an institution committed to student success both in and out of the classroom. As a major metropolitan research university with approximately 19,000 students on two campuses in San Bernardino and Palm Desert, we are here to support the higher educational needs of the Inland Empire and the Coachella Valley. Our students come from all across the Inland Empire and the Coachella Valley. The vast majority are first-generation, that is, the first in their family to attend college. As an anchor institution, we are committed to building a vibrant future through access to higher education for all who come to study with us.
Our university has a rich tradition of providing quality education in an environment that reflects the dynamic diversity of the region. Our outstanding faculty are award-winning scholars, highly recognized for their academic contributions and teaching. Our experienced staff are caring and courteous, dedicated to assisting with any questions or needs. Together, our faculty and staff foster a culture of excellence committed to empowering student success.
CSUSB offers over 70 traditional baccalaureate and master’s degree programs, education credential and certificate programs, and a doctorate program in educational leadership, all within five academic colleges: the College of Arts and Letters, the Jack H. Brown College of Business and Public Administration, the James R. Watson and Judy Rodriguez Watson College of Education, the College of Natural Sciences and the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. With extensive augmented learning opportunities such as internships, research and travel abroad, I am certain CSUSB has a degree program that is right for you.
Our beautiful and spacious campuses offer a wonderful environment in which to learn. You will find CSUSB a welcoming and inclusive place with exceptional facilities and extensive resources that provide a world-class educational experience. Our new Performing Arts Center on the San Bernardino campus opened in the 2025-26 academic year. The Center includes a 500-seat theatre as well as innovative rehearsal and teaching spaces and will be the premier performing arts facility for our community and bi-county region. In Palm Desert, work continues on our Student Services Building! This facility is designed for maximal flexibility as the PDC continues to grow.
I am proud that CSUSB continues to appear in social mobility rankings with noted national publications. The rankings benchmark four-year U.S. colleges and universities according to how effectively they enroll students from low-income backgrounds and graduate them into good-paying jobs. Also, Excelencia in Education, which is “committed to Ensuring America’s Future by increasing Latino college completion,” has awarded CSUSB the Seal of Excelencia for 2024-2027. Money Magazine gives CSUSB its top ranking of five stars for its strong educational value, affordability and student outcomes. Princeton Review includes CSUSB among its Best Regional Colleges in the West. And U.S. Veterans has declared CSUSB a Top Veteran-Friendly School. These rankings and awards demonstrate both our quality and commitment to student success, both academically and financially.
